ABOUT
Hi, I’m Gillian. I am a 28-year-old disabled woman trying to figure out life—just like everyone else on the planet. I’m welcoming you to come on my journey with me.
I have many hopes for this platform, but one of them is to show you how painfully unextraordinary my life is to destigmatize living with a disability.
Here’s my life in a nutshell:
I have a job
I go to school
I have friends
I have a boyfriend
I have a dog
I pay bills
I have a coffee addiction
I get groceries
I do my taxes (ok, my dad does the majority of the work on that one, but I do click submit!)
See? I am an average semi-functioning adult!
That said, I know some aspects of my life make me not average. I have a disability called cerebral palsy (CP). If you want to read more on that specifically, I will link a blog post here.
Anyway, the gist is I am disabled, and I am not special because of it, nor does it negate the reasons why I am special.
I’m hoping that by sharing with you, I can start to change people’s perspectives as to what it means to exist as a disabled woman and that it goes far beyond disability. Friendships, relationships, work, intimacy and more are all part of the experience.
This is mine.
